ASTRONAUT PISTOL
This design was very quickly approved - hence me never getting past the 3D viewport screenshot stage. the pistol design was inspired by a Cold War era frogman underwater pistol, and a captive bolt pistol used the humanely kill cattle. It was supposed to be simple, but sinister.
Like the look for the whole movie, it should be impossible to tell if the pistol was desi
gned in the 1960s, or 2060s.
The fat gauge at the back was supposed to let the shooter dial in the kinetic energy of the projectile. You would want the be able to control the power enough for a shot to puncture a suit, but not enough to puncture the thin hull of your spacecraft.
