SWORD Moon Rover EXT/INT
The initial design was for a buck of the cockpit and interior to be mounted to a hydraulic platform. Eventually, the direction changed for a practical build.
Built on a craigslist 60s Unimog with dummy central wheels, the design was adapted to fit the pratical build. Time did not allow for a fleshed out illustration, so it was all 3D for the final. It was a fun challenge to deliver the CAD data that the cabin was milled out of a block of foam!
Some earlier progress design work. Intial retro-future Rover shapes. On the moon as intended. Some NASA-inspired reinforcements. Huge articulation on the suspension to allow for the Hex breach scene, where the rover was originally going to be sucked in ‘belly first’.
Radiation shielding concepts using a ram bar, lead blankets to solid armor panels to attempt ot breach the Hex
